The Haul: When in Wicker Park…

When in Wicker Park, it’s a must to go thrift shopping. Wicker Park is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Chicago. It’s filled with unique stores, restaurants, and coffee shops. Every time I venture out there, I tend to spend the whole day wandering around discovering new places. My trip home was short, but I made the most of it by hitting all my favorite spots. First things first, we stopped into Stan’s Donuts for a quick treat. I’m not even a sweets person, but Stan’s is home to the best donuts I’ve ever tasted. Crossroads Trading Co never fails when looking for unique pieces. I scored a black shearling vest, perfect for layering. Next we stopped in Buffalo Exchange. Although the set up can be a tad overwhelming, I was able to find a SheInside jacket for $26 and a trendy fringe skirt from Hollister (Surprising, I know) for $14. Finally, it’s not a trip home without a stop to Akira. I’ve been lucky enough to be a brand rep for them and my obsession has only grown since. I bought quite the haul: Patterned poncho wrap for $20 (orig. $45), CHI tank for $18, plaid scarf for $12 (orig. $25), and two pieces of jewelry for less than $10. It’s safe to say my shopping addiction has been satisfied until my next trip home.

The Haul: Lower Manhattan

In opposition to my last NYC trip, this year I had the opportunity to explore more of lower Manhattan. I absolutely loved experiencing the unique personalities of each neighborhood. In Chelsea, we went into a urban chic store called Brooklyn Industries. I scored a little black dress perfect for almost any occasion. I’m clearly a huge fan of thrifting lately, and Beacon’s Closet in Greenwich was one of the best thrift shops I’ve ever been in. They had fabulous designers from multiple decades and almost everything in the store was under $50. It’s definitely a must if you’re in the area. I bought a RD Style sweater originally about $75 for $18, a Leifsdottir vest worth about $125 for $25, a beautiful cashmere sweater from Queue, and pale pink coat perfect for Spring from Agnes B originally priced around $350 for $45.10433113_10203830436705700_8742888351654341850_n

The Haul: Winter Break

After spending months in Kent, this break called for a much needed haul. Thanks to gift cards and Christmas returns, I’ve been able to do some shopping at a variety of places; but as usual, the my best scores were found in Wicker Park thrift shops and H&M. I’m obsessed with my new pants from H&M’s winter clearance sale. Originally $50, I got them for $20. I also found a pair of printed harem pants for $10 and a sweater dress for $20. During my thrifting haul, I ended up spending all my money at the first store we went into, Crossroads. This haul was definitely one of my best finds yet! I bought Top Shop booties for $9, J. Crew skirt for $15, Alice + Olivia sweater dress for $28, Hem + Thread top for $13, and a Tinley Road tweed vest for $20. Pictures to come very soon!
