A Fresh Take on Fringe

Resonating from the 1970’s, fringe has literally taken over the fashion world. Clearly, my style is far from boho:but, I found a way to adapt the fringe craze to fit it into my personal style. Black, white, and gold is one of my personal staples. I used this chic color palette and spiced it up by adding eye catching texture. The fringe from the skirt, shearling in the vest, and leather booties come together to make the perfect aesthetic.

I’m beyond obsessed with these booties. The chunky heels make them super comfortable, and I’m sucker for the gold accent on the heel. ifchic.com might just be one of my new favorite sites. They have endless designer deals in everything from clothing to shoes to jewelry. It’s perfect for the woman who loves contemporary fashion and a fabulous deal!

Festival Fashion

Don’t get me wrong, I love looking at the extravagant style of celebrities during festival season. I’m not an expert on every music festival; but from my experience at Lollapalooza, I don’t think I could last one show in half of their outfits. Celebrities are always seen sporting eccentric high waisted pants, layers upon layers, and heavy fabrics like leather or suede. Somehow Lollapalooza always ends up being the hottest day of the year or has sporadic rain storms that turn the ground into massive mud pits. As much as I love fashion, festivals are also a time to remember practicality.

Here’s my list of must-haves:

The Haul: Winter Break

After spending months in Kent, this break called for a much needed haul. Thanks to gift cards and Christmas returns, I’ve been able to do some shopping at a variety of places; but as usual, the my best scores were found in Wicker Park thrift shops and H&M. I’m obsessed with my new pants from H&M’s winter clearance sale. Originally $50, I got them for $20. I also found a pair of printed harem pants for $10 and a sweater dress for $20. During my thrifting haul, I ended up spending all my money at the first store we went into, Crossroads. This haul was definitely one of my best finds yet! I bought Top Shop booties for $9, J. Crew skirt for $15, Alice + Olivia sweater dress for $28, Hem + Thread top for $13, and a Tinley Road tweed vest for $20. Pictures to come very soon!
