Leather Versatility

No matter the season, my love for leather never really stops. This leather skater skirt consistently ends up in my outfit whether it’s paired with a tank or sweater. In a previous post, I styled it with a cashmere crop top, long sweater and knee high leather boots. I decided to stick with a similar theme and style it with another sweater crop top, except this one is much more lightweight. I also added a layering item like in the last outfit as well. The vest is a cream leather with gold hardware making it much more appropriate for summer. Leather ends up being more versatile than meets the eye with a little creativity.

Trend Report: The 1970’s

As you’re flipping through a fashion magazine or browsing stores this season, you’ve probably noticed the immense take over of 70’s inspired fashion. The boho chic look is definitely an acquired taste, but certain pieces are fun to style and absolutely perfect for summer time.

Here’s a list of some of my favorite 1970’s inspired items:

Mixing it up

Just like the average girl, I always get sick of jeans. Although they’re arguably classic, they’re usually far from comfortable and overdone. I like being able to have other options to change up my look besides just wearing a skirt rather than jeans. Over the past year, I’ve been experimenting with cigarette pants, palazzos, and harem pants and they’ve definitely been a worthwhile investment to my wardrobe. They’re a variety of silhouettes, so it’s been a great way to take advantage of other items in my closet to pair with them. But definitely the most important benefit of harems are how comfortable they are! They’re not restricting like jeans and cigarette pants, but just as comfortable as your favorite pair of yoga pants. Comfort and fashion; the ultimate duo. I styled these cotton harems with a white crop top, oxblood leather jacket, and some of my favorite chunky, gold jewelry. Try pairing them with a cropped sweater and pair of booties for the colder weather!

Homesick Clothing Co.

As much as I’m loving Kent State University, I miss the beautiful city of Chicago every day. It’s been a huge adjustment going from suburb/city life to being restricted to the town of Kent. Last week when I was scrolling through lookbook.nu, I came across a picture of a guy wearing a Homesick for Chicago shirt. Instantly I googled it and knew I needed one now. Homesick Clothing Co. was started by Ari, a Chicago fashion student. Her journey of starting a new life chapter in the city to Italy and back inspired to her start the clothing line. The relentless thought of where exactly is home is a very common debate for people of this age, and I can definitely relate to it at the moment. Her line consists of loose fit cropped tees, baseball tees, and sweatshirts with graphics of various places and sayings. If you’re into the graphic trend or feeling homesick, I highly recommend checking out her website.
