Some are saying that the all-white look is the new all-black… Coming from someone who wears black like it’s a religion, I don’t know if I’ll be jumping on that bandwagon. But, I do enjoy throwing in an all-white look every now and then. With the sun shining on a beautiful summer day, there’s just something about an all-white look that is truly stunning. It creates a glow and look of ease, which is basically what every woman wants to conquer with summer style. What’s so great about this look is the simplicity behind it. Every woman owns at least one white bottom and most likely an endless abundance of white tops. Styling it almost becomes a no brainer. Now’s the time to give this look a try before the return of earthy tones and Pumpkin Spice lattes.

The athlesiure trend… I will honestly admit that I wasn’t a fan and still am a bit skeptical. That’s not to say it’s not taking over the market. Girls are bringing back their favorite pair of Adidas and rocking sweatshirts/shorts in an effortlessly fashionable way. For me, I’d be just as comfortable throwing on a great pair of booties or oversized sweater for the same effect. Fashion is about being playful and experimentation, so I decided to try my hand at this unstoppably popular trend. My take included a more dressed up pair of shorts that never fail to be flattering for my body type. I styled them with a simple t-shirt and satin bomber from Zara. Topping off the look with a single choker and “wannabe Vans” from Target. It was a fun experiment to embody this trend; but to be honest, I’d probably never wear this anywhere besides somewhere like Target anyway. For the girls out there who can rock the athleisure look, keep killin it and take advantage of this comfy, cool trend!

Although summer and florals go hand in hand, there’s plenty of other ways to express your summer style this season. Bold colors and statement pieces can be just as playful and feminine as a “basic” floral print. This beautiful emerald shade with silver detailing is eye catching enough to make a statement. I also love the simple silhouette. It makes the waist appear tiny while remaining forgiving around the hips. It’s so flattering for women of nearly every age and size. Another trend that has been all over the runway of major designers from Dior to Tom Ford is the plunging neckline. It looks elusively elegant in evening wear but can be easily translated into casual daytime style. This ribbed cotton bodysuit can be paired with distressed denim, tailored shorts, or a slim A-Line skirt like mine to make this trend your own.

When palazzo pants first made their comeback a year or so ago, I wasn’t quite sure if they’d stick around. Here we are nearly two years later, and it’s safe to say they’ve become a summer staple. They may seem intimidating at first; but with the right styling, they’re the perfect summer pant. The best part about palazzos is their comfort and versatility. They can be dressed up for a day at the office or paired with trendy pieces for a music festival. This look is something I’ve worn for a more casual day out in the city. I incorporated the shade of red-orange that has been popping up everywhere this season with southwestern inspired print on the palazzos. For a day at the office, I’ve styled these pants with a simple white blouse and gold jewelry.

I recently stumbled across the amazing hair care company, Function of Beauty. I could not be more impressed with their product. They understand the importance of individuality when it comes to hair care and all their products are free of harmful sulfates and GMOs. Function of Beauty allows customers to tailor their shampoo/conditioner set to their specific needs. Customers first create a profile, which includes hair type, hair structure and scalp moisture. You’re also able to choose “Hair Goals”. Depending on your choices, natural ingredients are added to your set to help you achieve those goals. The personalization goes even further to allow for customized fragrance and color. I can definitely say Function of Beauty has helped me reach those hair goals and leaves my hair smelling like beautiful white tea jasmine. Between humidity, chlorine, and sunlight, summer is a tough time for hair and Function of Beauty is here to help.
Summer has officially started, which means I’m back in the best city: Chicago. As much as I love Kent State, the atmosphere doesn’t quite compare to the ambiance of a big city. Lucky for me, my internship and free time adventures are allowing me to take full advantage. This outfit combines a few of my favorite elements: black, leather, and, of course, repping CHI. Graphics have been sweeping the fashion scene lately. The right graphic really allows for playful styling and personalized expression. I complemented the urban theme of my tank with edgy leather shorts, a black layering piece, and spiked statement necklace. This look is a great mix to the cliche florals of summer. Chicago may be the Second City but it’ll always be first in my heart.

Whether they’re harem, palazzo, or a printed skinny, it seems as though the statement pant is here to stay. What start as a questionable trend has turned into a staple for almost every girl. Sure, jeans and black leggings are super easy to match; but every now and then, everyones’ wardrobe needs a bit of a splash. Patterned pants are honestly easier to style than they may seem. I recommend using a neutral or complementary color to the pattern and a contrasting silhouette (adding more volume on bottom & keeping it simple up top). For this outfit, I stuck with a geometric theme. I played the geometric pattern with pointed toe pumps, statement drop earring, and an elongating turtleneck to keep the flow of the outfit.
