If I could choose one way to spend the day, it would be exploring a city. Whether it’s somewhere new or a place I’ve been to dozens of time, there’s always new adventures to be discovered. Arts, culture, and life lie around every corner. For a successful day, it’s crucial to bring along the a few essentials.
- Bring sunglasses. It may not even be THAT sunny, but with glares coming off of every passing car and building, you’ll be happy you had them.
- Download Uber and Transit. This gives you access to every possible form of transportation the city has to offer.
- Following the apps, make sure to pack a phone charger, so you can actually benefit from them.
- Your favorite lipstick. After a few cups of coffee, impulse macarons, and lunch, you’ll be ready to reapply.
- Satchel style purse. Whether you’re shopping or exploring a museum, worrying about your purse is the last thing you’ll want to be focusing on. This style allows for maximum movement and safety as it’s strapped around you.

Resonating from the 1970’s, fringe has literally taken over the fashion world. Clearly, my style is far from boho:but, I found a way to adapt the fringe craze to fit it into my personal style. Black, white, and gold is one of my personal staples. I used this chic color palette and spiced it up by adding eye catching texture. The fringe from the skirt, shearling in the vest, and leather booties come together to make the perfect aesthetic.
I’m beyond obsessed with these booties. The chunky heels make them super comfortable, and I’m sucker for the gold accent on the heel. ifchic.com might just be one of my new favorite sites. They have endless designer deals in everything from clothing to shoes to jewelry. It’s perfect for the woman who loves contemporary fashion and a fabulous deal!

No matter the season, my love for leather never really stops. This leather skater skirt consistently ends up in my outfit whether it’s paired with a tank or sweater. In a previous post, I styled it with a cashmere crop top, long sweater and knee high leather boots. I decided to stick with a similar theme and style it with another sweater crop top, except this one is much more lightweight. I also added a layering item like in the last outfit as well. The vest is a cream leather with gold hardware making it much more appropriate for summer. Leather ends up being more versatile than meets the eye with a little creativity.

From capes to ponchos, the oversized sweaters have been making a huge come back. They’re a fun way to change up the silhouettes in your wardrobe. To make it even better, they’re unbelievably comfortable! A/W 2014/15 has taken much influence from western pioneer culture and given it an updated, modern twist. My style is far from country chic, but I’ve incorporated the silhouette and wore it in a way that’s consistent with my sense of style. I paired it with form fitting black pants and knee high leather boots for a more sleek, urban vibe.

I recently wrote about this vest in my The Haul: Winter Break post. I normally don’t wear many vests, because they’re usually a bit too preppy to integrate into my wardrobe. When I found this one thrifting, I loved the black, white, and gold tweed with chunky gold hardware. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to style something new, especially in my favorite color combination. I’ve styled this vest in two ways (second to be posted next week), but I love how this unconventional pairing completely changes the vibe of the vest. I went for a more sleek, city vibe by adding the dark skinnies, leather boots, and graphic NYC sweater. To bring out the gold detailing in the vest, I accessorized with a statement necklace, earrings, and bracelets.

After spending months in Kent, this break called for a much needed haul. Thanks to gift cards and Christmas returns, I’ve been able to do some shopping at a variety of places; but as usual, the my best scores were found in Wicker Park thrift shops and H&M. I’m obsessed with my new pants from H&M’s winter clearance sale. Originally $50, I got them for $20. I also found a pair of printed harem pants for $10 and a sweater dress for $20. During my thrifting haul, I ended up spending all my money at the first store we went into, Crossroads. This haul was definitely one of my best finds yet! I bought Top Shop booties for $9, J. Crew skirt for $15, Alice + Olivia sweater dress for $28, Hem + Thread top for $13, and a Tinley Road tweed vest for $20. Pictures to come very soon!
